The Qualifications to Become President

Here are the only actual "qualifications" one needs to become President of the United States:

  • Must be at least 35 years of age
  • Must be a natural-born citizen of the US, or have been a citizen in 1787,
  • Must have been a resident of the US for at least 14 years
  • Must garner enough electoral votes to win.
Constitutionally, that's it.  And really, the fourth point is a post-interview hiring decision rather than a qualification per se.

Note that none of these qualifications inherently pertain to morality, ethics, character, behavior, competence, experience, or political views of any sort whatsoever.  The last one implies that such things should probably matter (since they might affect how many electoral votes are gained) but certainly doesn't guarantee that. And yes, there is impeachment, but that happens after you get into office.

You can have dropped out of high school and spent the next 20 years unemployed and living in your parents' basement and still "qualify" to be President (provided, of course, you can somehow garner the electoral votes to win).

You can openly advocate any viewpoint you desire, from the most liberal to the most conservative, from the most populist to the most elitist, from the most inclusive to the most intolerant, and still - provided that by some miracle you garner enough electoral votes to win - "qualify" to be President.

Now, whether or not you will win, that's a different story.

Some astrological notes on the Trump campaign thus far

Peter Novak (https://www.facebook.com/peter.novak.astrologer, http://pathfinderastrology.com/) had some interesting astrological insights regarding the timing of the “birth” of the inimitable Donald Trump’s presidential run (2015-06-16, 15:21 UTC, New York), as shown below.

He touches on the New Moon-Mars conjunction in the 10th and the potent position of Mercury (in its own house, ruler of the Ascendant and Midheaven, and squaring Neptune also in its own sign, but retrograde and in the 7th house of open enemies.

Is there more to it than just that?  Well, as is usually the case, yes.

The chart represents a contest, so of course the 7th house of open enemies represents the opponents in the contest.  The Descendant is on Pisces and contains its ruler, Neptune, as well as Chiron.  This suggests that his opponents are confused (Neptune) and/or hurt (Chiron) by what Trump has to say—and we have certainly seen this throughout his campaign thus far.  He’s defied almost all polls and has offended many.  Note that the New Moon-Mars conjunction is also sextile Eris, the newly discovered dwarf planet associated with the goddess of discord.

The North Node of the announcement is in the 2nd house in duplicated Libra, symbolic of Trump’s preferential use of his own money (2nd house) in the campaign rather than being beholden to outside interests (other people’s money, the 8th house) and the theme of “making America great again” (as in the whole country, rather than simply bolstering the self which the Aries South Node of the past would suggest).  Your opinion on how effective, wise, or morally appropriate such would be will, of course, vary.

The principles of derived houses suggest that we can “invert” the houses—naming the 7th as the 1st, 8th as the 2nd, etc. to see how the opponents operate.  Here, we have Pisces (illusion, dreams, and confusion) rising and Neptune and Chiron in the 1st house, everyone’s favorite planet Saturn on the Midheaven, and the Sun/Moon/Mars in the 4th house.

The 4th house is the house of “home” and, to an extent, the house of conservatism (not the political definition, but in the sense of “going back home” to things that are “familiar.”  With the lunation, Mars, and Mercury all falling there, we see a clear desire on the opponents’ part to conduct the campaign in the old, familiar way.

The above biwheel Donald Trump’s birth chart surrounded by the presidential run inception chart.  Because he made the announcement so close to his birthday and at approximately the same time of day, the event Sun, Moon, Mars, and Mercury all show up in his natal 10th house as well, and with event Venus conjunct natal Pluto—perfect for an announcement that would transform (Pluto) his relationship (Venus) with the country, and in particular its institutions (conjunct in the 12th house).

Effectively, this makes for an overall astrological “power hour” and a perfect time—from both a mundane and personal perspectives—to make such an announcement.  As a final note, the event’s South Node is conjunct (and therefore the North Node opposite) his natal Eris.  Some strife relating to his past in this event?  He did run in 2000 after all, technically….
